About Kathy Archer
Kathy has lived in the Claremont community for over 20 years with her husband Bill and their daughter Shelby. Shelby has grown up in the Claremont Unified School District, attending Condit, El Roble and now Claremont High School. Kathy enjoys being involved with Shelby’s community service, scouting and sporting events. Kathy is a tireless proponent of public education and has served on the Claremont Educational Foundation Board of Directors since 2016 and was a member of the successful Claremont Measure G bond campaign in 2016. Kathy and her family are also frequent volunteers at The Union Station Homeless Services Adult Center.
Kathy has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California – Irvine and received her JD from the University of La Verne Law School. Kathy passed the California Bar Exam in 1995 and shortly thereafter realized that her calling was teaching. She has been an educator at Charter Oak High School in Covina since 1998. She teaches World History, World History Honors, IB (International Baccalaureate) History of the Americas and serves as the IB Coordinator. In her tenure at Charter Oak, she has served as Leadership Chair, Department Chair, District Technology Committee Member and WASC Accreditation Chair. Kathy brings her experience and passion for working with students, along with an educational leadership and management background to the CUSD board. She intends to use her collaborative leadership style to positively impact Claremont Schools and ensure student opportunities for success.
